There are few things I enjoy more than sitting around in the afternoon and watching a Yankee game while strumming a guitar and working on new songs. This little ditty is based on an instrumental riff that I’ve been playing for awhile. I recently came up with some lyrics and was riffing on it while Aaron Judge smashed doubles off of the Twins’ outfield wall. If you listen closely you can hear the sound of Yankee announcer Michael Kay in the background of this recording.
It’s one of those songs I write that doesn’t seem to have a practical application. So let’s file this one under “art for art’s sake”. And who knows maybe it could fit onto some future more acoustic based SF project or something else I do. People talk about stockpiling weapons or doomsday supplies…I’m stockpiling songs. The lyrics are below.
Have a great weekend and come see us this Sunday 5/19/24 at the Steel Mill Street Fair at the Roebling Museum in Roebling, NJ. I’ll be there all day working the stage and then the full band is playing a 2 hour set at 2:30. This was originally scheduled for Saturday but the event was moved to Sunday based on weather concerns. Drummer Rob Martin is away on a surprise birthday trip so Tom O’Grady (Dipsomaniacs) is sitting in on drums. More info here.
Next weekend: Mick/Ron SF Acoustic show at Belmar Brewery in Belmar, NJ on Friday 5/24 at 7:00. And full band at Spellbound Brewery in Mt. Holly, NJ on Saturday 5/25 at 7:00.
Thanks for reading. - Mick
Palace Flophouse Rag #2 (7 Nation Army Encore) I’m only looking for a new direction There’s no perfection that I know I’m only looking for some realization No idealization zones Say what you will Say what you want to I know you will Say what you will Say what you want to I know you will I been on the wrong side of the road I’m only looking for some good vibrations The “Seven Nation Army” encore I’m only looking for some jubilation Just the liberation of my soul I’m always making salutations All my relations, they know I’m only waiting for some conversation Someone to take me home Say what you will Say what you want to I know you will Say what you will Say what you want to I know you will I been on the wrong side of the road I’m only looking for some good vibrations The “Seven Nation Army” encore I’m only looking for some jubilation Just the liberation of my soul
And looking ahead to next weekend we can’t wait to return to Spellbound Brewery on Saturday 5/25. Show starts at 7:00. Another cool SF show poster from Jerry Lardieri.
