Hello and Happy Friday! For this week’s post I’d like to share with you some info on our song, “Mike Malloy”. We recorded the original version in 2014–it was the first time Pete joined us on a recording (Holy Moly…10 years!). I came across these notes in my Google folder and thought you might enjoy the backstory on the song. The audio here was recorded at rehearsal on Wed. 3/27/24 in Chesterfield, NJ…especially for me to share with you today.
From the first time I heard Mike Melloy my thoughts immediately raced to Rasputin. For me it was not the reason for the murder…greed vs power…It was how many times attempts were made Not the why but the how
Rasputin was a man of licentious habits with hypnotic powers…and Alexandra was captivated… but those in power decided that he needed to be gone. Invited to dine with Russian aristocrats Rasputin was given wine and cakes heavily laced with cyanide…. but he did not succumb… So they shot him… as Rasputin attempted to escape into the courtyard they shot him again... next they beat him up and tied him to the back of a horse-drawn carriage and dragged him on the cobblestones… they ran over him… but still he did not die… next they threw him into the icy hole in the river. By the next morning, he was a goner.
A Rasputin of sorts.
Yes, that makes sense…though this was just some dudes trying to make money. Rasputin…well not sure about him, he kinda creeps me out!

What a story! Greed/Power. Same coin. Always great to hear from you!
He was a mesmerizer and he didnot bathe. Enough of this as the song Murder Neath the Silver Moon dances thru my head Happy Easter to all
